POETRY - WE BOTH KNOW THERE IS A LIFE I'M WAITING FOR

I could never ask you to wait for me,
and you will never ask me to stay.
We both know there is a life I'm waiting for,
in a beautiful and distant place.

How could I forget your face?
We seem to have never been together.
But what a pleasure it was,
our little fraction of forever.

I'll film it all.
I'll record every sound.
So you can come along,
from the screen in your small town.

And I'll write it all.
I'll write every word down.
So you can marvel at the pages,
and the places I have found.

And I'll tell the story,
of how I did it all alone.
But not of the nights I spent worried,
your heart found a new home.

And I'll stay awake,
until the sun goes down.
I'll stare at the moon,
and tell you my doubts.

Was seeing the world worth it?
Or did I loose a good thing?
Or are all the clocks just broken?
and the world has bad timing.

Who knows.
But here I go.
I can't be who you deserve and stay.
And you can't follow me anyway.

I love you.
I always will.
But this emptiness inside,
no man can ever fill.
